ABERFELDY CHOIR TO PRESENT NEW TROPHY AT LOCAL MOD
Aberfeldy & District Gaelic Choir is to present a new trophy at the Aberfeldy Mod on Saturday June 14th in memory of their former Gaelic tutor, the late Helen T. Macmillan.
The Helen T. Macmillan Memorial Cup has been bought from donations made to the Choir at her funeral, as was her wish, and it will be presented for the highest mark in Gaelic in the Senior Choral Competition. Newly appointed Choir President Joan Bower said “I’m very proud for the Choir to be presenting this new trophy at the local Mod – we were very privileged to have had Helen as our Gaelic tutor.”
...AND PLANS AN AUGUST EVENING OF ENTERTAINMENT
Aberfeldy & District Gaelic Choir started the year with an impressive performance with well-known singer and folklorist Margaret Bennett at Glasgow’s acclaimed Celtic Connections. The Choir is currently planning an evening of fun and entertainment with Margaret and other entertainers on Saturday 9th August in Aberfeldy Town Hall at 7.30pm.
The evening is the brainchild of the Choir’s conductor, Isobel Rutter, who says she has had such a good time with the Choir and with her connections in Aberfeldy, it is her way of giving something to the community.” I wanted to get involved,” said Isobel. “There’s such a variety of talent in the Choir and around the Aberfeldy area, it’s amazing… I come from Glasgow every week, and the Choir pays my petrol expenses, so this special evening is my way of giving something back – it’ll be a fun night out for everyone, that’s for sure!”
Money raised will be divided between the Choir
and a local cancer charity. Tickets will be available soon, at venues
which will be announced in the press.
